Getting your kids to brush their teeth is probably one of the most challenging parts of the daily routine! It’s right up there with making sure they eat healthy, and they don’t make a complete mess of the house! It’s an ever common struggle of parenthood!

It’s very difficult to help little ones understand how important dental hygiene is. So how do you encourage your kids to brush their teeth?

MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO

Kids will follow what they see you or a sibling (enthusiastically) doing! Make sure your kids see you brushing and flossing! Happily explain what you are doing, step by step, as you go. Children naturally love to emulate adults. Have their toothbrush within reach, and playfully invite them to join! Encourage, but do not force. They will eventually do this by themselves!

TOOTHPASTE CAN MAKE IT OR BREAK IT

The taste of the toothpaste is often the one thing that can turn off children from brushing. A toothpaste specifically made for children, that has a mild flavor is easier for kids taste buds. Ask your dentist for the best toothpaste recommendations. Get your kids involved and let them choose the flavor!

BE PATIENT AND POSITIVE

When you were younger, did you always do what your parents asked? Ha! Its okay, we won't tell! Patiently ease your kids into good brushing habits. Explain how good hygiene can keep away bad cavities. Never use going to the dentist as punishment, as this can instill fear of someone that will help them.

CHOOSE AN EXTRA GENTLE BRUSH

Brushing can be painful to children because of their sensitive gums, growing jaws, and erupting teeth. Remember that plaque is a biofilm and it does not take much to remove it. Lighten the pressure when brushing. Keeping kids comfortable will help them be more cooperative.

Thankfully, EmiSmile Brush is the best solution to get kids to effectively brush their teeth! We are so proud to be able to share this amazing product with you and your children! We are in this together!
